Tennis with women you haven't met yet
League tennis is the same faces every week. You know who lobs, who poaches, who brings the orange slices. We love it too, and we also know the itch it can't scratch: new opponents, a real bracket, and a good excuse to get eight of you to the beach.
Tennis Slam is that excuse. A women's doubles tournament weekend at a resort. Squads of eight, four pairs each. Five matches guaranteed, win or lose, against women you have never played. A Thursday social so you meet your squad before the bracket does. And a format built so a loss drops you into a smaller bracket that is still alive, never onto the sideline.
The first one is at the Omni Amelia Island Resort, October 22–25, 2026. Registration closes October 10.
The bracket started on a spreadsheet
Back in 2019 the original draw was worked out on a spreadsheet: a catch-net bracket where every loss drops you one level into a smaller bracket that is still going. Nobody gets eliminated from playing. You find your level, and then you play it.
In 2026 we rebuilt that idea into the weekend we run now.
Ladder day. Three matches. Round 1 is blind; rounds 2 and 3 are matched by record, so the matchups tighten as the day goes on.
Bracket day. Seeded by Friday. Championship, plus Plate, Bowl and Shield brackets, so a loss moves you down a bracket instead of out of the weekend.
Super Sunday. When a pair from your squad wins her flight, all eight of you are back in: squad-vs-squad semis and finals, all four lines on court at once.
No rating required. Women 21 and up. Nothing you do here touches a USTA rating, and we are not USTA-sanctioned. That is on purpose: the score you post at Tennis Slam stays at Tennis Slam.
Who's running this
Tanner Baker. He took over Tennis Slam in August 2026 from the people who dreamed it up, and Amelia Island this October is the first weekend he is running. There is no big staff behind the curtain: there is Tanner, the format, a resort with 23 clay courts, and an inbox he reads himself. The company is Tennis Slam Corporation, based in Georgia.
How we treat you
- Plans change. Withdraw up to 30 days before the start date and you get a full refund minus a $20 admin fee. After that we can't refund, and entries are not transferable. We would rather say it plainly here than in the fine print.
- Balls, sports drinks and bananas at every match. Bring your racquet and your partner. We handle the rest.
- Thursday social is included. Meet your squad, hit a little, no scoreboard.
- A human answers your email. Usually within a day, often much faster.
The promise
- Women only
- Squads of eight
- Five matches guaranteed
- Four days at the resort
- A villa covers entry for everyone staying in it
- Bring all eight and every entry fee is refunded at check-in
Pick a name, claim a crest
Twenty team identities are part of the deal. When your squad fills to eight, you claim one and it is yours for the weekend. Choose wisely; the group text will have opinions.
